The Jeet Kune Do Academy of Martial Arts Clifton Park, New York class training the JKD Straight Blast for self defense.

These drills are designed to enhance the student’s reaction time and second nature responses.

The drills at times use visual cues, and at other times integrate spook drills.

Spook drills are done when the student’s eyes are closed.  Once the student is cued by a strike or shoved that student trains there automated response to blast the opponent or opponents.

Some people believe in controlling would be attackers, by trapping them and or locking them up.  One of the underlining principles in JKD is hit!

Hitting is paramount to controlling, do you think you can control someone who doesn’t want to be controlled?

How about if that person outweighs you by 50lbs to 100lbs.  Fancy locking and controlling tactics look cool yet rarely works against an unwilling, and uncompromising opponent!
