Take Down Vs. Kick To The Groin For Self Defense/ Larger Vs. Smaller

 

Check out this clip, towards the end the commentator ask’s BJ Penn what he would do against a guy of his size and strength in a joking manner, then BJ Penn takes him down, then BJ Penn struggles to put him in submission for nearly 40 seconds.  The commentator attempts to fight back yet is not successful.  It was a great demonstration of how much time, effort and strength is needed to stop someone who is larger than you using grappling tactics..

41 Seconds to get someone in kimura vs kicking a larger opponent in the groin.  Which one is more efficient and effective?

God forbid if the person has a few friends with them.

I enjoy training and teaching various ranges of combat, yet I am the first one to tell my students to use awareness, speed and power to strike vital targets to overcome larger foes.
